I have a rule, every build I try something new on. Last build was a Tamiya 1:35 Panther A. I scratch built the schurzen side skirts. Made a tarp, and filled in the periscope ports, put in glass in the front. It’s not perfect, but it’s damn good for my skill level and time in hobby.

3:00 Eagle Squadron was not operational during the Battle of Britain and none of the Americans who flew in that battle survived. There were certainly no Americans with Battle of Britain experience flying in Eagle Squadron at any point in its existence. Apart from that, the first P-51B fighter group was made operational in December, 1943 and participated in ‘Big Week’ in February, 1944. By that time, this fledgling unit had already received its baptism of fire.

Don’t feel bad about the stripes as in ww2 they were hand painted if you look at photos or close ups you can see brush strokes or imperfections like literal straws of hay stuck into the painted invasion stripes

Great show, very informative!!!! By the way, I want to see Tamiya do their version of a 1/48 scale TBF Avenger. It's about time for a new tooling of this amazing torpedo bomber. I would add, for 1/32, a P-40B Tomohawk, in Flying Tiger markings and British 112 Squadron markings in North Africa. It would be stunning!!!! Again, great show and happy modeling!!!!

I found the best way to deal with the engine and cowling is to glue the four cowling panels together to make a one- piece cowling, then slide the engine in through the back

Very nice work here in all aspects. I enjoy the riveting part of a build because it adds another level of accuracy and craftsmanship on top of an already great kit like this. Nice painting techniques and results. I will use your build as a reference for my build of this same kit.

FYI The centreline ALQ-99 Low band pod is not included in the HB kit. It has a wider profile shape towards the bottom unlike the wing mounted high band pods. I’m assuming you used a spare high band pod from the kit?

You may have to revisit the Mustang saga very soon with the Meng kit and soon to be released Eduard P-51B kit.

Best thing to do in cockpit paint it in enamels dont need to dry brush if it's grey just rub your thumb over bezels and molded knobs until you get the desired wear look 🤔

A comment on the tailpipe corrosion. The napkin rings on my grandparents kitchen table were originally from the exhaust pipes of a Betty bomber shot down over Tinian. I remember they were always shiny with no corrosion.

Can you expand further on the incorrect part for the engine? should I get a detail set?

I see three generations of 'modern' Airfix kits (rough dates) - pre 2015: finally a step up from 60's 70's; 2015 - 2021: better engineered but still fit issues; post 2021: much better design and engineering (1/24 Spitfire/Sea King/Gannet) but getting a bit expensive considering there are still quality control issues. They have some of the best instructions and colour callouts in the market and the best decals. My current exemplar is Kotare.

People who send hate mails or hate comments because they can't accept someone's else opinion or a fact that is clearly visible like the bad fit of this particular Airfix model, then they shouldn't be watching those videos. And you should care less, keep doing what you are doing a lot of good learning for many of us.

How did you get the copper wire to stay in place ? Ive been having problems with that using super glue. Maybe im using the wrong type ?
